Senior Night Winners!

fwhs_LogoWe celebrated Senior night honoring three amazing young women that have greatly contributed to our program!  Megan Huff (4yr Varsity, Starting Outside, Captain), Aliya Ranis (4yr Varsity, starting Libero, Captain) and Marina Dolgova (1yr Varsity, right side).  It was a fun atmosphere!  The girls played great and we ended our season on a win!  The team collected 45 kills, 10 aces, 10 blocks, and 48 digs.  We passed above 2.0 on serve receive and were able to run some great combo plays on our way to a 3-1 victory (25-21,  25-13, 14-25, 25-13) over cross town rival Federal Way.

Special thanks to our Beamer Dance Team for their performance between the 2nd & 3rd sets, special apologies to our very own Atina Elia (JV), we didn’t get to hear her sing our National Anthem – but I’ve heard she is really good!  We had a great crowd out for our last game of the season and we are all proud of our players and team.  Let’s wish our Seniors the best – I know I’m going to miss them!

Beamer Bounces Back Big against Decatur!

In their only back to back match of the 2013 season, Beamer bounced back big from an earlier loss to Kentwood and jumped on the Decatur Gators from the onset to win in straight sets, 25-8, 25-18, 25-7.   The evening had the eerie feel of a potential upset as the heavily favored Titans we were without starting setter Mckenna Milholland and starting Middle Nia Alexander, both home sick.  They were also still dealing with starting libero coming back from an ankle sprain and the rest of the squad still battling the flu bug.  Thankfully, Catherine Miller stepped in and did a great job filling in as setter and Senior Megan Huff had a monster night impressing the Seattle University coaches who were in the crowd.  Beamer finished the night with a 28 kills, and 28 aces.  Yes, that is right 28 aces!  Everyone on the squad chipped in on this win as coach Pat was able clear the bench and even played freshman Savana Service from the JV squad.  Nice job Titans.

Beamer over Jefferson!

The Beamer Lady Titans pick up a solid 3-0 win over the Jefferson Raiders tuesday.  Beamer collected 32 kills, 13 aces and 3 blocks in a team effort sweeping the Raiders 25-14, 25-7, 25-17.   Senior Megan Huff went on a tear at the serving line with 6 aces and added 7 kills.  Junior Reed Copeland led the charge up the middle with 8 kills, and 2 blocks.  Sophomore Nia Alexander finished with 6 kills from the middle.  Kudos to Sophomore Mckenna Milholland finishing with 32 assists and Junior Zella Hanson contributing 2 kills and 2 aces.  BTW, special thanks to our own Reed Copeland for starting the night off with her signing of the National Anthem!

Beamer Ends Season on Winning Note!

Our talented team came to play Tuesday night against cross-district Federal Way.  Our match was “Senior Night” for the Eagles and I have to give “Kudos” to the trio of Federal Way students that sang the National Anthem “A Cappella” style.  It was excellent!

Our kids played great!  Sophie Miller was obviously pumped to play her last match in a Beamer uniform, she paced the team with 60 assists, which I am sure is a Todd Beamer record for a single match!  Sophie also sealed the win on the last play of the game, with an attack Kill from the right side on Kelsey Milholland’s assist. Both our offense and defense was on track as  we collected 68 kills and 15 aces on the night and passed 2.1 as a team.   Beamer won 3-1, with scores of 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17.

This was definitely a good way to end our season.  We have been a pretty inconsistent team all season long, but I will say that when we pass well – we are a “very, very” good team!  Nice job Lady Titans – we’ll definitely miss our 5 seniors and wish them the best as they complete the rest of their senior year and prepare for their next step forward!  We look forward to what our talented returning players will do as they take over leading our volleyball program!

Titans Win InterDistrict Match against Jefferson!

The Beamer Varsity volleyball team over-powered the Jefferson Raiders in tonight’s matchup of Federal Way schools. The Titans explosive offense versus a scrappy Raider defense. In the end Beamer was able to pull out a 3 set victory 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 over Thomas Jefferson! The Titans passed a steady 2.2, amassed 38 kills and 15 aces against the Raiders. It was a solid team win for us. We can now look ahead to our next match Thursday against SPSL North Division opponent Auburn, featuring heavy hitting Brooke Good.
