Beamer ends season with a win on Senior Night!

We already knew the night was going to be a success as we honored our Senior players and their families on Tuesday! I believe the event really inspired our entire team as we came out “on fire” in the first set and matched the best we’ve played all season! Special congrats to Lexi Jones #3 and Brooklin Keeney #7 who took advantage of their last volleyball match in a Titan uniform! Both players played incredible. We are definitely going to miss all our Senior players! With our win against cross-town rival Federal Way, we finish the 2011 Season with an 8-6 record and more importantly earned the respect of being a contender in the SPSL South. This team has made some great strides this year from being a perennial last place team to being in a team that competed well enough to almost pull out wins against the top teams in our league. Coach Bob and I were chatting and realized (6) points was all that kept us from securing a spot in the playoffs. For that alone, it’s been a great accomplishment…I’m very proud of what we were able to do this year…and it’s aways nice to end the season with a win! Great job lady Titans!

Tough Loss against GK!

Throw away game 2 and it was a very competitive match. Lost game 1 and game 3 both 25-23. We never really were able to get out ahead, all match long it seemed that we were always trying to battle back from behind. I will say that I am proud of the effort we gave tonight, I think Beamer volleyball is headed in the right direction but just not ready to pull out these close games. Unfortunately with this loss, our goal of getting to the playoffs will not be reached this season. Yet, there is plenty to be proud about this team for what has been accomplished this year.

Big Week for Beamer!

This is going to be a very important week of volleyball for Todd Bearmer. We should have a clearer picture if we are going to be in a spot to try to earn a playoff spot in the SPSL. We have 2 very tough teams coming to our house this week. Spanaway Lake on Monday and Curtis on Wednesday! Time to see if we can step up our play this week!

Painting Fundraiser Done!

Thanks to all that helped with our paint-a-house fundraiser. After completing this, we are able to pay for our much needed new uniforms for the Varsity team! Special thanks to Bob Miller and Steve Mensching who brought some much needed ladders and volunteered some man-hours. Also want to recognize our very own JV freshman Zella Hanson, who helped out this weekend with the painting!

Beamer vs. Rogers Match!

Great job last night! If you haven’t heard Beamer beat Rogers 3-1 last night in our third league match of the season. 25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23. Beamer is now 2-1 in league (5-2 overall) and looking forward to hosting Auburn on Monday. I understand that last night’s victory over Rogers is the first time ever!

Very Exciting Game vs. Puyallup!

Wow! I’m very pleased with our effort in last night’s home match against Puyallup. We fell a couple points short of pulling off a surprise victory against a team that normally finds themselves at the top of the league. Lots of things to be proud about. The best compliment I received last night about our team was from our Beamer Superfan “Larry” who has been coming to support the Beamer Sports Program since day 1 of Beamer’s existence – “That was the best we have played ever!”. Great job ladies. We work hard to put ourselves in position to win matches and we difinitely put ourselves in a position to win that one. Now it’s time to get ready for Bethel and Rogers.

Varsity at Kent Classic!

Hey all. Our varsity team is participating in the Kent Classic Invitational Tournament on Saturday. There are 30-teams entered and we will be facing some very good teams! Action starts at 8 am, Saturday the 17th! We will start the morning at Kentwood High School, depending on how we finish, we could be Kentlake in the afternoon pool. Looking forward to playing some great teams!
